Explanation (?):

The DNS server service provides the domain name system functionality to your server. This is used primarily in two ways. The first is the standard cascading of Internet naming servers. The second is through the use of active directory. The purpose of using active directory through DNS lookups is that NETBIOS is inferior compartively. Chances are that if you are running a server that you will definitely want the DNS server service unless running, but if not you should uninstall it from the add/remove components dialog rather then just disabling the service.

"Man is the only animal that deals in that atrocity of atrocities, War. He is the only one that gathers his brethren about him and goes forth in cold blood and calm pulse to exterminate his kind. He is the only animal that for sordid wages will march out... and help to slaughter strangers of his own species who have done him no harm and with whom he has no quarrel.... And in the intervals between campaigns he washes the blood off his hands and works for 'the universal brotherhood of man' - with his mouth". --Mark Twain
